Reading Comprehension: Rainforest

A rainforest with a tall canopy, vines, a toucan and a frog

Read this information text about four rainforest layers. Every answer must come from the passage. One question asks you to put two facts together.

1.Rainforest Layers

A rainforest grows in warm, wet places and has four layers. The forest floor is dark and damp. Jaguars search for food there among roots and fallen leaves. Above that is the understory, where young trees and big leaves make a shady home for frogs. The canopy is a thick green roof. Toucans live there and eat fruit from the tall trees. The emergent layer is the very top, where the tallest trees poke into the sun. Harpy eagles rest on those high branches and look for food. Each layer gives animals food and shelter.
